Designed as a retreat for a fashion designer on an environmentally volatile site on the north coast of Kauai, this 3,770 square foot house captures the surrounding views while providing protection from harsh climatic conditions. Confined by a tall hedge surrounding the site, the house choreographs specific views to engage the surrounding environment. With its capsule like form and closable openings, the house is also able to combat local, climatic conditions.
